Staff

Stephanía Jiménez Macías (Staff Coordinator - Saltillo, Mexico) leads our staff to help us reach out to journalists in as many locations as possible. Prior to joining CIME, Stephanía worked on international migration policy and international consulting in Mexico. She is a graduate of Universidad del Valle de Mexico in International Relations, and Walden University in Business Administration.


 

Maia Lazar (Project Assistant - Budapest, Hungary) comes to CIME with international experience studying in the Balkans, writing for the National Journalism Center in Washington, DC, and working at the Insitute for Cultural Diplomacy in Berlin, Germany. She is a graduate of University of California, San Diego, and joined CIME to help develop and manage our ethics training curriculum for journalists.


 

Martin Huckerby (Instructor - London, UK) has trained journalists on ethical issues in countries as varied as Russia, China and Sierra Leone. He was a reporter and news editor at The Times, then Foreign News Editor of The Observer, and Editor of The Prague Post. As well as his international work in media development, he has authored the UNESCO handbook, The Net for Journalists, and was consultant editor on the first guide to human rights reporting for Chinese journalists.

 

John Holland (Instructor - Brussels, Belgium) has worked over 20 years with CNBC Europe, CBS News and The Times of London. As Bureau Chief, he re-opened the Frankfurt and Berlin offices for CNBC Europe business news television in 2000. As a CBS News correspondent he produced on-site breaking war reporting from Middle East conflicts, Africa and the Balkans. He is published by the Wall Street Journal Europe, Chicago Tribune and Boston Globe. John is also a consultant for the European Journalism Center (EJC) and holds an MBA from the University of Bath (UK).

 

Johan Lee (Technical Consultant - Paris, France) is a student of engineering at Ecole Spéciale des Travaux Publics (ESTP) in Paris. He was previously designer and webmaster of the Starblock organization website.

 

Kate Newman (Research Consultant - Chicago, USA) studied in Paris, Dakar and New York where she studied Wolof at Columbia University and worked with the Senegalese community in Harlem. Before joining CIME, she created a community outreach group serving Senegalese immigrants in New York (Soppey Senegaal), and completed a year with the Watson Fellowship including research in Australia, India, Morocco, and Argentina. Kate is a graduate of Bard College with a focus in Anthropology and African Studies.
